Chemical action removal of phosphates that inhibits the growth of algae. EHEIM phosphateout is a special iron compound for chemical filtration. Iron binds phosphate, removing it from the water circulation and thus gradually reducing phosphate levels in the aquarium. In this way the growth of algae in the aquarium is inhibited. If phosphate levels and consequently algae growth start to increase, it means that the filter medium is exhausted and needs to be replaced.
