It is incorporated by corals, mussels and other invertebrates that make reefs in aragonite, a mineral that is secreted as skeletal material.
It is recommended that the strontium concentration in the aquarium be determined using an accurate pre-replenishment test kit. Do not add this product directly to an aquarium containing live animals without first diluting it with water according to the instructions.

Basic: Dissolve 1 gram (teaspoon) of product per 40 US-gallons of aquarium water in 8-fl. ounce. of fresh water add every other day or as needed to maintain the strontium concentration in a range of 8 - 12 ppm. When used in this way, 1,200 g cures up to 48,000 US gallons (181,700 L).
